The S-Works Torch is the latest evolution of cycling’s most successful shoe. Using Body Geometry coupled with biomimicry, data science and obsessive craftsmanship, we’ve designed a shoe so carefully constructed you’ll forget you’re wearing it.
Leveraging data science, we’ve fine-tuned every detail of the S-Works Torch upper to improve fit and performance. The BOA cable is offset downward and at an angle, preventing lift off the ball of the foot and providing structure that enhances power while eliminating unwanted pressure or pinching. Adaptive materials allow natural foot movement where it’s needed for comfort, while data-driven zonal reinforcement keeps the foot locked in for crisp power delivery and optimal efficiency.
Guided by over 100,000 foot scans of our RETL fit data, we recognized that both a standard and a wide carbon baseplate would be best suited for the spectrum of human foot shapes. An internal I-beam adds rigidity and strength, eliminating the need for additional bracing. The result is a 20 gram weight reduction, increased efficiency and immediate power transfer.
Following biomechanical data from RETL, we’ve created an asymmetrical heel counter that promotes natural knee alignment and provides the positive support that cyclists love, while improving comfort by leaving more room for the Achilles.
The S-Works Torch is scientifically designed to disappear under your feet and out front.
- The new upper features reinforcements in key areas, while offering adaptive fit zones to create a fit that disappears under the foot.
- Based on data collected from Retl’s foot scans, the new baseplate is 4mm wider at the ball than the previous generation S-Works 7 shoe.
- By optimizing its construction, the new carbon plate is 20g lighter than the S-Works 7. An internal “I-Beam” ensures it maintains the same stiffness as the previous generation.
An updated last makes use of Retl data to better match the shape of cyclists’ feet, sloping more to the lateral side for a snug fit.
- Asymmetrical heel counter supports the medial side while removing material from the lateral side, allowing for a lower neck.
Updated BOA cable routing improves support and reduces pressure on the anterior ankle ligaments.
- Independent alloy BOA S3-Snap fit system for on-the-fly micro-adjustment, backed by the BOA guarantee.
- Titanium alloy cleat nuts can be rotated to position the pedals/cleats 5mm rearward. Three-bolt cleat pattern accommodates all major road pedals.
- Non-slip, replaceable heel tread with internally recessed screws for added security.
- ***IMPORTANT FOR FIT*** New motherboard is 4mm wider than standard width (8mm wider than S-Works 7).
